How to add Sinhala subtitles to a video

  1. Upload the video. Drop in an MP4, MOV, M4V or WebM file, or paste a YouTube link.
  2. Choose Sinhala (සිංහල). The language has to match the speech in the video.
  3. Check the text. Read the first minute in the Subtitles panel and fix anything the AI misheard.

Sinhala subtitles: what to check

  • Check the font first. Sinhala’s rounded letters and vowel signs need a font that supports the script. If you see boxes or broken letters, upload Noto Sans Sinhala or another Sinhala font.
  • Singlish lines. Sri Lankan creators often mix English words into Sinhala. Read the first minute and fix repeated words with Correct everywhere.
  • Spoken and written Sinhala differ. Subtitles follow what was said, which is usually colloquial. If you want formal written Sinhala on screen, plan time to edit.
  • Give it height. Vowel signs above and below the letters need more room, so raise the caption size a step on vertical video.
